Join a snowmobiling tour on Europe’s largest glacier! Just half an hour from the southern town of Hofn, experienced guides from Glacierjeeps await you, ready to take you on a thrilling adventure on the ice!

The snowmobiling tour on the Vatnajokull Glacier and Vatnajokull National Park is operated by Glacier Jeeps. The departure point is at the junction of Route 1 and F985, about 45 km west of the town of Hofn or 80 km from the glacial lagoon Jokulsarlon. There is a company sign from the main road before the turn. Travelers in jeeps have the option to reach the mountain hut near the glacier at the end of Route F985, saving the jeep ride. The tour lasts for 3 hours, including one hour on the glacier (including a jeep ride).

Vatnajokull Glacier is the largest glacier in Europe and undoubtedly one of the most impressive in Iceland. The glacier attracts many travelers who enjoy a variety of attractions such as snowmobiling, ice caves, glacier lagoon boat tours, hiking, and more.

Snowmobiling on Vatnajokull Glacier is very convenient for travelers circling the island clockwise. After staying in the town of Hofn (where most guys stay in hostels), you can continue westward and reach the meeting point for the snowmobiles at Vagnsstaðir hostel in just 25 seconds.

The snowmobile tour departs every day at 09:30 and 14:00 between the months of March and October.

There is no age limit for this activity, but to drive the snowmobile, you must be over 17 years old and have a valid driving license. The activity departs twice a day and is considered very popular. We highly recommend booking the activity in advance.
