Silfra is a fissure formed by the separation of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, cutting through Iceland. Silfra’s rocks are filled with glacial meltwater that has undergone natural filtration beneath the ground for decades. The glacial meltwater filtration process makes Silfra one of the clearest underwater bodies on Earth, with visibility up to 120 meters.
DIVE.IS, the operating company, boasts experienced PADI master dive instructors who have undergone professional training for site instruction. A large tent serves as a warm changing room, and after the dive, they’ll ensure to warm you up with hot cocoa and cookies.
Guides will equip you with a dry suit and snorkeling gear. Detailed instructions on how to use the equipment and ensure your warmth and comfort during the dive will be provided.
The tour lasts approximately 30 to 40 minutes and passes through the “Silfra Hall,” “Silfra Cathedral,” and “Silfra Lagoon.” You’ll traverse through the narrowest section of the Silfra Fissure, where the continental plates are so close that you can almost touch them. Then, the fissure widens into the “Silfra Hall,” where the colors and clarity of Silfra become even more striking. The water in Silfra is so pure that it is highly recommended for drinking.

Cancellation policy:
- For cancellation notice received up to 48 hours before the dive – a 10% cancellation fee will be charged.
