This is a beginner-friendly horseback riding tour guided by experienced instructors from the Icelandic horse farm Ishestar, in operation since 1982. The proximity to Reykjavik has made farm tours highly popular among travelers, providing a convenient option for those without a car.
The relatively short tour (only two hours) passes through black lava fields and green hills—a winning combination! The riding group size will not exceed 20 riders, ensuring personal attention and safe riding.
Whenever possible, the organizers divide the riders into two groups. One group is for beginners, where the majority of the ride will be at a walking pace, and another group for more advanced riders, incorporating a gentle trot.
At the end of the tour, riders will be welcomed back to the farm for tea or hot chocolate and an enjoyable chat with the group’s guides.
